THE HONORARY CONSUL GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO IN HANOI - VIETNAM
CONSUL GENERAL VU QUANG HOI
MESSAGE FROM CONSUL
It is a great honor for me to have been appointed, since 2008,as the first Honorary Consul General of the Republic of San Marino to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. I am thankful to Republic of San Marino for granting me this privilege, and for entrusting its consular activities under my appointment.
It is a privilege for me to represent the world's oldest Republic: San Marino has held tightly to its independence for century after century, even as Italy unified around it and its fellow city-states gradually vanished. When you climb to the top of the first tower of the San Marino Castle named “Città”, it's clear why you would want to defend this mountaintop hideaway. In a country of scenic overlooks, this is the most scenic of them all, a panoramic view of the surrounding Italian countryside from what feels like the top of the world.
I am and will always be proud to be a Vietnamese:just like in San Marino, we fought for our independence and maintenance of our thousand-year old traditions and are incessantly vigilant about.
This proves that to have established and to maintain a strong relation between these two countries is not only a diplomatic effort, but a natural consequence between two great nations with a history based on similar valuable traditions and struggle for freedom. It is a stunning example of how two countries so far away can be linked together by the invisible line of the ethics and steady values.
I reiterate my commitment to my duties as the Honorary Consul General of the oldest Republic in the world and to restlessly devote my efforts to the supreme interests of the Republic of San Marino and her citizens while bearing in mind to always remember my own heritage and to primarily be of service to my motherland, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
